The purpose of the GWNZ Women in Governance Scholarship is to support a women advance her capability and career in governance through further study with a recognised provider. 

This Scholarship recognises the need to support women in governance roles so they may become positive role models and contribute to raising the status of women in New Zealand.

Eligibility criteria

The applicant is a female degree graduate, who:

  • is a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
  • is an active member of Graduate Women New Zealand (GWNZ)
  • does not hold another GWNZ national or branch scholarship

Selection criteria

We are looking for female applicants who:

  • have current governance experience
  • seek to advance their capability and career in governance
  • actively contribute to GWNZ
  • advocate for women and girls
  • intend to have a positive impact on women and girls


Award History

Graduate Women New Zealand (GWNZ) was formed in 1921. This scholarship recognises and celebrates we have been "empowering women through education" for 100 years. The scholarship is funded by the GWNZ.
