Sally represented Graduate Women New Zealand (GWNZ) and Graduate Women International (GWI) at the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
CSW is the UN's principal global intergovernmental body dedicated to promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women. This year, nearly 10,000 women and men from around the world gathered to reflect on the progress made since the 1995 Beijing Platform for Action and explore how we can collectively accelerate implementation to achieve gender equality by 2030.
Sally will share what she heard from women who are tackling systemic challenges in their communities and driving real policy change. Some of the sessions she participated in included: "Women in Power: Getting to 50-50 at the Table" and "Empowerment of Women in Politics, Economy and Education" , and "Educating Women and Girls: Advancing their Empowerment and Equality"
There will be an opportunity to explore how our collective action could help shape a more just, inclusive future for women and girls in Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond.
All welcome. Free entry. Join GWM for light refreshments after the event. Please RSVP to manawatu@gwnz.org.nz
