Christabel Wagner is currently completing her Masters in International Development and Planning at the University of Otago with research focused on Indigenous and Native Hawaiian approaches to water governance, particularly in disaster recovery. She hopes her research will weave together community-based perspectives, policy analysis, and environmental justice to support Indigenous rights and knowledge to support resilient communities. Her background includes a Master of Fine Arts and a successful career in data analysis and multi-family housing development. She is honoured to be a recipient of the Susan Byrne Memorial Award, which will support her research and commitment to elevate Indigenous communities in sustainability and disaster policies and plans.
