Time
9am - 3pm

Date
07 November 2026

Price
Free for branch and friendship bridge members, $20pp for non-members

Venue
Te Waiora, the Centre, Massey University.

We invite our post-graduate student branch members, Friendship Bridge members and other post-graduate students that identify as women to join us for the launch of our Shut Up and Write sessions. These sessions are a dedicated time to focus on your studies and block out all the other noise. Bring your books, laptop, highlighters, pens and anything else you need for a focused day of studying. We will provide the tea, coffee and a light lunch. Feel free to bring snacks or other food if you prefer or have significant allergies or dietary needs.

Saturday 7 November

9am - 3pm

At Te Waiora, the Centre. Te Waiora is located in the middle of campus between the bus terminal and Tawa Hall. It is located in E9 on the campus map.

This event is free for branch and friendship bridge members. It is $20pp for non-member post-graduate students.

The general flow of the day will be that we meet together for introductions and sharing our intentions for the day at 9am. Then we will spend the morning working silently on our studies with the benefit of sharing space with others doing the same to help keep us focused and on track. We will stop for a light lunch around 12 noon and then resume studying until 2.45pm. At 2.45pm, we will come back together to share some reflections on our day and share any feedback for next time.

Students are encouraged to meet their needs during the day. Need to go for a walk and get some fresh air, no problem. Need to take a phone call? Feel free to pop outside. Got a burning idea you want to talk through with someone? There may be someone else taking a break that is keen to discuss (away from the silent study space, of course). This community is about students supporting students wherever we are on the post-graduate journey. Study can be isolating and coming along to Shut Up and Write with Graduate Women Manawatū can help bridge the gap.

Register here by Sunday 2 November. Registrations may close earlier if all spaces are filled.
