Kia Ora
I am a mum of two young children, midwife and PhD student living in the Manawatū. I am passionate about women’s health and elevating the profile of women’s wellbeing at a policy level. I have worked as a midwife for 10 years in the region, working in clinical roles and policy, quality and education settings.
I have always wanted to pursue a PhD and after having the opportunity to disseminate some preliminary findings of my Masters I was able to upgrade this project to a PhD.
I am working part time as a midwife and also continue to juggle parenthood. Which makes my topic very personal to me. I hope to create knowledge that can inform how to best support parents in the early years to optimise their own health and wellbeing, to in turn optimise that of their whānau.
I have recently discovered and joined GWNZ and feel humbled to be part of the kaupapa. I believe my research aligns with the goal of empowering women and in particular mothers.
