As a passionate advocate for New Zealand agriculture, I hold a Bachelor of Agricultural Science (first-class honours) and am currently pursuing my PhD in soil science. My research investigates soil and agronomy research critical to enable sustainable farming and land management of the NZ high country. High country landscapes are challenging for pasture production. A key soil limitation is soil acidity, a spatially extensive problem in high country landscapes. My goal is to enhance farm viability and sustainability through scientific insights and strategies, empowering farming families and advancing the broader scientific community. This research holds global significance as acidic soils afflict 30% of the Earth's soil, the second largest edaphic threat to food production behind drought. Managing acidity is vital for sustainable food production to feed the world's growing population. I am passionate about agriculture and I am driven to contribute to the sector. Additionally, I enjoy sharing my passion for the sector with other students and the public through my executive role with the Lincoln University Soil Society. I have also made the most of opportunities to share my expertise with others, volunteering to provide technical assistance to the Pacific nation of Vanuatu.
