I am a PhD and Clinical Psychology student in the School of Psychology at Victoria University of Wellington. I aim to develop an in-depth understanding of the mental health needs of migrant and refugee youth in Aotearoa through my research. I hope that this understanding will contribute to the development of a resource that can be used by community members and health professionals to promote equitable mental health outcomes for the young people in my community.
Before undertaking doctoral study, I completed my Bachelor of Science in Psychology with Honours and was awarded first-class distinction. When I’m not engaged in my research or my clinical studies, I am representing my community at academic conferences, and in my contribution to publications.
However, I consider my most significant achievement to be the meaningful and positive change I’ve been able to make in the lives of countless young people through my community work. This work involves my youthwork and advocacy work with former-refugee girls, and my anti-racism work through a number of different community groups and organisations.
