GWNZ Harriette Jenkins Award, 2020 - 2021

Anne Stephenson

Anne Stephenson PhD; VICTORIA UNIVERSITY OF WELLINGTON I would like to formally acknowledge and record my profound gratitude for the Harriette Jenkins Award I received last month. Please pass on my appreciation for the hard, voluntary work done by members of the GWNZ CT that makes awards such as this possible. They are life-changing and have inter-generational flow-on effects.

My PhD topic is “Teachers’ awareness of information literacy and its impact on their curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment”. I plan to continue working full-time on this in 2021, analysing data and writing my thesis.

I am a well-qualified teacher and librarian. I apply myself diligently to academic study, always work to the best of my ability, and enjoy learning, research, writing, and new challenges. My biggest achievement is raising two thoughtful, resilient, conscientious, considerate young adults while facing and managing whatever life has thrown at me.

I intend my research will be useful to Education sector leaders, policy-makers, universities, schools, and teachers as they work together to improve student learning outcomes in NZ and navigate the choppy waters of transition to a digital world.
