GWNZ offers national and branch (regional) scholarships for women at various levels of study and/ or research.

 

  • GWNZ Fellowships

    Fellowships for women to do doctoral study at a tertiary institution in New Zealand or overseas.

  • The Rebecca L Lynch Scholarship

    For high-achieving female students who are currently enrolled in Year 1 or 2 in a New Zealand university. The scholarship will support study abroad at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, USA. This one-year scholarship from January to December, covers non-resident tuition fees, registration fees, and room and board costs.

  • Graduate Women Otago Awards

    For Graduate Women Otago members:

    Travel Awards - to enable GWO members to present original work at national and international conferences
    Otago Daphne Purves Award - to enable GWO members to participate in conferences, meetings, courses, workshops, or events, in New Zealand or overseas. To contribute material from their experience or research, and to gain expertise, ideas or professional development that will benefit their communities of interest

Guidelines for preparing a scholarship applications

Before you start your application please do the following:

  • Check that you fit the eligibility criteria
  • Think about what you want to say about yourself and your studies carefully
  • You have all the  documents required to be uploaded readily accessible.
  • Check that you are including as much relevant information as possible about yourself, your studies and ambitions

Before sending in the application double check that

  • Your documents are all loaded correctly
  • You have provided the appropriate information in each section
  • You have made the best case possible for why you should get an award
I am a Fellowship awardee – How shall I approach my Progress Report

Think of your audience – who is primarily the GWNZ membership and interested public. Note: Your report becomes a public document as we upload it to the webpage. Photos add interest; please provide a high quality digital photo relevant to your scholarship (max 300kb) for us to upload with your report.

Can I apply for multiple scholarships?

Yes, you can apply for multiple GWNZ scholarships but if successful, you will only be offered one scholarship.

When are the GWNZ scholarship results announced?

All applicants are advised of the results in August

When are scholarship funds available?

This varies with each scholarship. When you are advised of being awarded the scholarship; we will also advise you of when payments will be made.

Does GWNZ provide financial support for community initiatives or one-off requests from individuals?

GWNZ only offer the scholarships as listed on the website
