Graduate Women Manawatū Research Symposium and AGM

On Saturday September 23rd, the Manawatu Branch held their Research Symposium and AGM. Dr Rose Collis presented her work on Antibiotic Resistance in Dairy herds.

This is the second time this event has been held and this year took place on a rainy spring day in Palmerston North. However, the weather did not deter the attendees who included current members as well as those newer to research. It was a successful day and we were fortunate to engage in scholarly conversation and listen to diverse and engaging research presentations. Guest speaker, Associate Professor Sita Venkateswar shared her research on diversity, everyday social relations and the socio-cultural landscapes inhabited by the Indian Diaspora in Aotearoa New Zealand. Other presentations ranged from Antibiotic Resistance in Dairy herds (Dr Rose Collis, pictured), the place of Green Bonds in Tourism, and the History of Shopping in Wellington. Each presentation sparked interesting discussion and hopefully this provided useful feedback for the researchers and inspiration for the next generation of researchers.
