NZFUW Auckland Branch memorial book

The book will be displayed for the Centenary. Beautiful calligraphy commemorating honoured members of NZFUW Auckland

As a contribution to our Centenary celebration, Special Collections at Auckland University is displaying the New Zealand Federation of University Women Auckland Branch memorial book.

The book commemorates honoured members of the Auckland Branch of NZFUW (as it was then). For each honoured member there is a short biography outlining their life, academic achievements and assocation with the Federation.

The original biographies were written by other members of the Federation, then written into the book by skilled calligraphers. In addition to the beautiful calligraphy, some early entries are accompanied by small sketches.

The book itself, with its blue leather binding and gold tooled details, was made at the National Library of Wales in 1955.

To view the book, visit the Special Collections Reading Room on Level G of the University Library in Alfred Street  - between 12 noon to 5 pm Monday to Friday until July 8.

Some pages of the book have been scanned for us, and you will see those in a slideshow on Friday night.
